Memories of a Stolen Fate
Nelora served without question. As a warrior in Serra’s elite guard, she followed orders blindly, believing she was fighting for the salvation of humanity. Until a single, undeniable truth shattered the illusion. Nelora tried to carve a new path in the shadows, but there is no hiding from a woman who twists fate herself. Found out and stripped of everything she held dear, Nelora is left with nothing but the void. But Serra forgot one thing: darkness doesn't just destroy. It remembers.
Okay, I can explain.
I reached out with my will. It followed the wind through the trees until it found him, carrying my thoughts like leaves.
Explain? You went against orders.
You don't understand—
You can't change my mind. Serra is on her way.
Hot tears began to well. The connection frayed, stinging my mind.
Serra never was reading fate. She was rewriting it.
My body began to tremble. Each ragged breath ignited a fire in my lungs. Black spots danced at the edge of my vision.
You have no proof. Just fear.
Your brother.
I paused, letting the memories come forth. I pushed them through the bond so he would feel them.
He didn't desert us—
Don't!
Do not speak of him. He was a coward. He died running. Just like you.
The wind began to pick up. The shadows moved, carrying a chill that reached into my marrow.
No, Davriel. She sacrificed him. To fuel her will.
There was no reply. Just silence. My fingers dug into the cold dirt. My jaw tight.
Your brother knew this.
His face flooded my memories. I saw the softness in his gaze freeze into cold resolve. Even as he raised his sword, he never wavered.
You are weak!
Leaves swirled into a violent vortex. The shadows knitted together into a silhouette I knew too well.
The air grew heavy, tasting sickly sweet—like rotting lilies. I had no strength left to fight her.
Yielding? How disappointing.
Her voice was a low hiss against my ear.
Your memories will fade. Just like the light that once guided your kind.
The light we all longed for. Yet we followed her into the dark—a void that swallowed us whole.
Heavy shadows blotted out the sky as she began speaking in an ancient language.
I closed my eyes, welcoming the blackness. I will remember. I will return. I will drag her to her grave.

This chapter felt heavy in a quiet way. You can really sense her hurt and the way it slowly turns into resolve. The ending didn’t need to be loud to be powerful because it lingered. I’m definitely interested in seeing where this leads next.

@L.T Thank you so much! I am so glad that it lingered. ☺️

This was really good. I could feel her pain and anger the whole time. The ending stayed with me, especially that last line. I’m honestly curious what happens next.
Kali Rae
@Lily I am glad that you enjoyed it. ❤️

This was haunting in the best way. The dialogue feels sharp and intimate, and the quiet moments between the words carry so much weight. Nelora’s realization hit hard, especially the way memory and betrayal intertwine. The final vow is chilling, controlled, restrained, and devastating. This reads like the beginning of something dark and unforgettable. I’m genuinely hooked.
