“Midnight Footprints”

One dark night, a boy named Alex heard strange noises coming

from the basement of his house. At first, he thought it was

the wind, but the sounds became louder… step by step… closer

and closer. He slowly opened the basement door and

saw an old chair moving by itself. Suddenly, the lights

went out. In the darkness, he heard someone whisper his

name:

"Alex…"

When the lights came back on, the basement was empty — but

muddy footprints were leading toward his room.
