Beneath it, one line appears:

THIS VERSION OF YOU EXPIRES WHEN THE CLOCK REACHES ZERO.

Then your bedroom door opens

“Do not worry. You are not dying. Your possibilities are.”

The vanished door leaves a white outline on the wall.

Like something was there long enough to become real.

Then you notice Sava staring at another door.

Their timer reads 00:47:12.

“How many futures did you have?”

Sava laughs once.

“Enough that I thought losing one did not matter.”

Mirel opens a corridor behind you.Dozens of doors line both sides.

MAKE THE CALL.

One door flickers.

You reach for it.

Mirel stops you.

“Wanting it does not keep it alive.”

“Only entering does.”

Sava’s timer hits 00:00:00

Nothing happens to Sava.

But every door around them disappears.

Sava whispers, “I thought I was running out of time.”

Mirel looks at you.

“You are running out of evidence that you are someone who acts.”

The countdown reaches 00:00:10

You look into the mirror.

Nothing about your face changes.

The doors behind your reflection do.

One disappears.

Then another.

Until your reflection is standing in an empty hallway.

“This is what expires.”

“Not your life.”

“Your belief that you are still someone who will change it.”

You understand Sava now.Someday did not steal everything at once.

It taught them to stop believing their own promises.
