The List

The List

The List follows Vale, a young assistant who accidentally hears something she wasn't supposed to. The deeper she looks, the harder it becomes to pretend she doesn't know what she knows.

The flight was scheduled for a Thursday,

private terminal, no commercial record, and Marcus handed me the tail number like it was nothing,

like he did it every week, and maybe he did.

My job was just to confirm the time with the pilot and make sure the car was there at five,

that's it, that's all I was supposed to do.

But you looked into it.

I looked up the tail number, yes, because I couldn't not, and the plane was registered to a holding company that didn't have a website,

didn't have a listed address, just a name and a registration number and nothing else behind it.

What was the name?

Meridian Asset Group.

I searched it for an hour and found nothing that told me what it actually did or who actually owned it,

just paperwork that pointed to more paperwork.

But I found one thing, a single filing from four years ago, and one of the listed contacts was a man named Roland Fitch,

and I recognized that name because it was one of the three men in that conference room.

So Harlan and this Roland Fitch are connected through the plane.

and when I showed up to work the next Monday the Henderson file I had delivered that night was gone

from Harlan's desk and nobody mentioned it and nobody asked me about it.

Like it never existed.

Like I was never there that evening at all.
