IN 1963, A STRAY PARISIAN CAT BECAME AN ASTRONAUT
Celebrate Félicette, a humble stray cat from the streets of Paris who was chosen by the French space program to become the first and only feline astronaut in history..
We all know about dogs and monkeys going up into space.
But the first cat in space was a stray from the streets of Paris.
Her name was Félicette, a calm little black and white cat.
In 1963, scientists put her in a rocket and blasted her into the sky.
She floated in zero gravity, looking down at our big blue planet.
Her parachute worked perfectly, and she landed safely back on Earth.
She is the only feline astronaut in the history of the world!
