The Wrong Bag
A burner phone shows up in Martha’s grocery bag, and minutes later someone is pounding on her door asking for “the package.” The deeper she digs, the more it feels like this was meant for her.
Jacob?
I just got home and there's a burner phone in my grocery bag.
What?
Cheap black one. Not mine.
Did the cashier toss it in by mistake?
It rang once.
Stopped before I touched it.
Don't answer it.
Too late. It lit up again.
No number. Just Unknown.
Put it outside.
I went to the door.
Someone slammed their fist on it.
Martha?
They're yelling “I know you have the package”
Lock everything. Now.
I did.
They're pounding harder.
Call 911.
Wait.
They just said my name.
How would they know your name?
Jacob they're looking through the peephole.
Get away from the door.
The knob just moved.
